The Inkling is a literary and art magazine that was published by the students of Springfield College. The first volume was published in 1958 and the last volume was published in 1982. It was published each term in the hopes of stimulating intellectual and cultural growth and creativity in the campus community. At first, its content included poems, short stories, essays, and other short fiction written by members of the Springfield College community. Starting in 1962, it also included drawings, photographs, and other artwork. In 1973, The Inkling began to refer to itself as "Springfield College's Magazine of the Arts."
