Baker, Eliott G. '74 Memorabilia Collection (MS 534)

Born in Newton, Mass., Eliott G. Baker graduated from Springfield College with a BS degree in 1974 and M.Ed. degree in 1975. During his years at Springfield College, he was a residence assistant and hall director, a music director for WSCB-FM, a student aide, and an Admissions Intern and Assistant. After Springfield College, he went to the Ohio Dominican University, becoming the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Planning from 1978 to 1980. From there he went to Slippery Rock University where he would spend the rest of his career. From 1980 to 1986, he was Director of Admissions, and from 1986 to his retirement in 2017 he held the following positions: Director of Enrollment Management, Executive Director of Academic Records & Retention, and Executive Director of Academic Records, Graduate Studies and Summer School.

Materials in the collection were created or were collected by Eliott Baker, and date from the 1890s through 2017. All materials have to do with Springfield College or with Baker’s time at Springfield College. Some interesting pieces include a ticket from Bruce Springsteen’s concert held on February 2, 1974, a series of Gymnastic Team trip photos from 1938 through 1940, a copy of a 16mm film produced by RKO Pathe Films called “Men of Muscle,” memorabilia and realia (including jewelry, banners, clothing), and many scrapbooks and scrapbook pages created by Alumni of Springfield College.
