Acceptable Use of Online Resources

Springfield College Library Services subscribes to a wide range of online resources that support the curricular and research activities of authorized Springfield College users to include students, faculty, and staff. Most online resources are licensed, not owned, and are therefore subject to restrictions in how they may be used.

The owner of each online resource defines how their products may be used, and may also monitor use to identify potential abuse. Misuse or violation of these terms may result in the termination of access to the online resource for the entire Springfield College community.

Authorized users that access online resources licensed by Springfield College Library Services agree to abide by the Acceptable Use of Information Technology policy, and to comply with the applicable terms and conditions of the online resources being used. Specific terms vary by online resource, but in general, users agree that they will:

• Use the online resource only for non-commercial, educational, or research purposes
• Respect all copyright or other intellectual property rights associated with the online resource
• Seek appropriate permissions when using the online resource in course packs or other published materials
• Not engage in the systematic downloading of excessive amounts of content
• Not grant access to non-authorized users, including sharing passwords or access codes
