Government Sources

The U.S. Government gathers and distributes many differnent types of statistical information. Two rich sources for anyone looking for marketing data are the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Homepages for each agency, as well as links to a few useful tools from each site are below.

Bureau of Labor Statistics
Rich source of statistics on labor and the economy.
American Time Use Survey (BLS)
Measures the amount of time people spend doing various activities including work, household activities, childcare and leisure & sports.
Consumer Expenditure Surveys (BLS)
"data on expenditures, income, and demographic characteristics of consumers in the United States."

Census Bureau home page
An excellent source for United States population and economic data. There are many different tools you can use at this site. Explore or ask a Reference Librarian for assistance.

The starting place to search through most Census data.
