Information about using BrowZine and LibKey, tools for reading and keeping up-to-date with scholarly literature.

What is BrowZine?

BrowZine is a web app that allows users to browse, read, and monitor journals available through Springfield College. It is accessed through the Journals links on the library website.

With BrowZine, you can:

  • Easily access full text of journal articles in Library Services' collection
  • Send articles to citation management or note taking programs
  • Share links to articles with others by email, Facebook, or Twitter

Third Iron supports over 1,000 publishers and provides access to tens of thousands of journals, but you may find that not all journals are yet included. An updated list of supported publishers is available on the product website.

How do I access BrowZine?

Accessing BrowZine

You can access BrowZine through the Journals link on the library website.

Authentication

To access content from supported publishers available through Library Services' subscriptions, you must sign in with your PrideNet ID and password.

To sign in:

  1. When opening BrowZine for the first time, you will be asked to Choose a Library.
  2. Scroll down to, or type into the search bar, Springfield College and select.
  3. Enter your PrideNet ID and Password in the appropriate fields, and login.

How do I use BrowZine?

Overview of the BrowZine Interface

Use the left-hand menu to:

  • Browse Articles in Press, if available
  • See individual issues for a volume of the selected journal
  • Access all years held in our collection (via the "See All" link)
  • Browse related journals in the publication's subject area

Use the right-hand pane to:

  • View all articles published in the selected volume and issue
  • Download PDFs for individual articles
  • Get a permalink to the article
  • Export the citation for import in Zotero or other reference manager
  • Share the article via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or email

Note: Depending on the age of the publication, and the publication status, the Download PDF button may not be available within BrowZine. If the PDF is unavailable, you can quickly request it via interlibrary loan right from the interface.
