Class of Springfield College 1943, Dr. Congdon became a member of the faculty beginning in 1961. He served as Dean of Students from 1963 to 1965 and as Academic Dean from 1965 to 1986. His last two years at SC he returned to full time teaching as a member of the Department of Teacher Education. Dr. Congdon was very interested in Humanics, serving on the original committee appointed by President Olds to investigate how to document its importance to Springfield College. In addition to the research he provided during his year as Distinguished Professor of Humanics, Dr. Congdon wrote a number of books on Humanics that are still available from the College archives. He retired in 1988 after serving 21 years as Academic Dean. He was a long time active member of the Rotary Club and helped establish a chapter in the Mason Square area of Springfield. Dr. Congdon died in 2007.
