Dr. Dunn joined the faculty in 1947 and coached football and taught physical education at the College for twenty-nine years. In 1975 he stepped down as coach and took time off to complete a doctorate in Health Education at Boston University which he completed at age 61. He was the first recipient of the Christian Service Award from the College Newman Community.  He used the sport fields and arenas as well as the classroom to pass on skills, attitudes, social consciousness, and humane consideration to generations of students who, because of his “go get 'em” enthusiasm, whatever the odds, nicknamed him “Tiger.”  Dr. Dunn retired in 1984 and died in 2016.
