Short statement that describes what it means to be a Distinguished Professor of Humanics:
Having a forum to engage the entire SC Community and to energize one's thoughts on the meaning of Humanics was a central theme. . Giving recognition to students nominated by their fellow students and faculty for exceptional spirit via service to others was an important activity which I value. When interviewed, students given awards thought what they did was no "big deal," and assuring them that their service to others was in fact a most important element of Humanics! I also gave support to lectures and formal events discussing the possibility of preparations to the Gulf War. While there was overwhelming negative feelings about this, I ensured that those with loved ones in the military also had a voice and they were not silenced by the majority for supporting those who might be killed or injured in service to our Nation.

Short statement that describes how you continued to live the Humanics mission after your year as Distinguished Professor of Humanics:

Ensuring how members of our major would provide service to the Greater Springfield Community and helping to select a new Professor of Humanics. Annually donating to our College funds to support students is a continuing activity.
