The Meaning of Home: Our Town
The Meaning of Home: Our Town

Day and Time:
Wednesday: 12:00-12:50pm
Description:

Examining the idea of “home” in Our Town by Thornton Wilder, my essay argues that Wilder uses the town of Grover's Corners not only as the literal home of the characters but also to explore the idea that home is more than a physical place, it is not a tangible object, person or places but a feeling of security, belonging and love. I start by outlining times when the characters are expressing feelings of love, security, and belonging. Then, I focus on particular characters to analyze what “home” means for them individually. Then, what are the implications of what “home” means for everyone? Keywords: Home, Our Town
