15th Annual Undergraduate Scholars in Action Day Program

A day of celebration of undergraduate scholarship.

Scavenger Hunt

Encourage your students to come visit the Scholars in Action Day poster presentations by assigning the Scholars in Action Scavenger Hunt as an extra credit assignment! It is a low-stakes way of helping first and second-year students see the type of work they will be expected to do later in their academic careers, as well as supporting their peers.

Students will be expected to find 5 different posters during the Poster Presentations session in Blake Arena from 10:00-12:00 on February 9th. Once they've found a poster, they will answer a few questions:

  • Poster title and faculty sponsor
  • Give one interesting thing learned at the presentation
  • Take a selfie with the presenter in front of the poster as proof that they attended

Students will need to have their smartphones on them to complete the activity. If you have a student without access to a smartphone, you can print out a copy of the form and have them submit it to you in person* with the presenter signing the printout in lieu of a selfie.

At the end of the day, faculty will receive a spreadsheet including which of their students participated and submitted the form.  It's up to you how you want to grade this extra credit work. Participation credit, perhaps?

Invite your students to come and experience what their friends and fellow students have been working on!

Note: The Scholars in Action committee will not be collecting printed copies of the scavenger hunt, so make sure to have your students turn it in for class if that is how you wish to collect the responses instead of receiving it electronically.
