Overview

Quick Search has a fresh coat of paint!

This past year, Library Services has been testing the latest version of our library catalog software. In addition to a sleeker look, the modernized Quick Search interface includes major accessibility updates and general performance improvements. The user experience will continue to be improved over the coming year.

What's New?

  • The interface has a new look that is optimized for all devices, including tablets and phones.
  • Search performance has been improved along with stability improvements.
  • Accessibility has been updated to conform to WCAG 2.1 AA standards, with additional updates planned.
  • Search results now display call numbers for physical items along with the best way to access electronic resources quickly from the search results page.
  • Keywords are now highlighted so you can see exactly why you're receiving results.
  • 28 databases are being searched in Quick Search by default. Previously, 21 were enabled. Learn what Quick Search is searching here.
  • The landing page, search results page, and item details page now are using the improved interface.
  • The Additional Databases panel may be dismissed for each new search session and enabled on demand to search within other sources.
  • Library Chat is always available for assistance via the icon on the right side of the results pages.

What's Staying the Same?

  • The search experience! Similar to the library website redesign rolled out in January 2021, this interface maintains the same functionality.
  • Advanced Search, Course Reserves, and the backend journals list have not changed. They will be updated in a future release.

FAQs About the Update
