Welcome!
61 million adults in the United States live with a disability -- that's about 26%, or 1 in 4 people!
Disability studies is an academic field that examines the meaning, nature, and consequences of disability. Generally, it is based on two principles: the social model of disability, in which people are disabled by barriers in society, not by their impairment or difference, and the medical model of disability, in which people are disabled by the medical conditions that afflict them.
This guide provides a platform for disability studies research, including ways to locate books, articles, digital resources, and more.
